Our team has partnered with more than 200 educational institutions, advancing key Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) initiatives.

Recognized for our impact, The Dais has received prestigious honors such as the Global Green Schools Award (2017) in New York, the 13th National Women Excellence Award (2020) in Delhi, and the Karmaveer Chakra Award (2018) in Delhi.

Sustainability Champion & STEAMbassador Award 2024

On 19th September, Aspire Artemis Foundation, The Dais, Tears of the Earth, Centre for Complexity Economics, Applied Spritituality and Public Policy (CEASP), Jindal School of Government and Public Policy awarded three young leaders with The Climate and Sustainability Champion & STEAMbassador Award 2024 at a ceremony held at OP Jindal Global University, India.

The award was presented for taking climate action while inspiring change and recognising the trailblazing work of the youth.

The ceremony, held on 19th September 2024, commenced with Opening Remarks from Devesh Gupta, Founder of Emerge, and Dr. Naresh Singh, Professor and Executive Dean of Jindal School of Government and Public Policy.

Three young leaders were chosen for the awards for 2024:

1. Dr. Harshita Umesh for her work with the YOUNGO, the official children and youth constituency of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

2. Nitish Lal for her work in Sustainable Financing with various organisations

3. Meet Sijariya for his work in climate education.

Policy Making Bootcamp on Sustainable Development Goals

On September 4, 2024, an impactful Policy-Making Bootcamp for Youth and Civil Society was organized by the Centre for Public Policy and Good Governance (CPPGG), Government of Uttarakhand, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and The Dais at Kumaun University, Nainital. The event aimed to empower students and civil society members by engaging them in interactive discussions on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the policy-making process.

Over 70 participants from diverse academic backgrounds such as Forestry, Environmental Science, Sociology, and Agriculture took part in this dynamic bootcamp. The day began with a warm welcome from Prof. Lalit Tiwari, Director of the Visiting Professor Directorate at Kumaun University, followed by inspiring addresses from Prof. Neeta Bora, Director of D.S.B. Campus, and Dr. Sanjay Pant, the Head of the Department of Physics and Prof. Ashish Tewari, Director of Kumaun University Innovation and Incubation Centre, and Mr. Suraj Chand, SDG Capacity Building Communication and Training Analyst from CPPGG.

Ms. Diksha from UNDP introduced participants to the UNDP’s work in sustainable development and emphasized the importance of youth involvement in policy-making. Expert-led sessions included Mr. Bhupender Yadav and Mr. Devesh Gupta from The Dais, who walked participants through the intricacies of the SDGs and policy formulation. Attendees engaged in group activities, developing innovative solutions to regional challenges such as forest fires and waste management.

This bootcamp demonstrated the power of youth and civil society in driving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and equipped participants with the tools to become active contributors to policy-making processes.

Diplomatic Simulation on Migration

On September 12, 2024, the American Center New Delhi and The Dais, hosted a Diplomatic Simulation on the International Migration Crisis, focusing on Human Rights and Border Security. This immersive experience brought together seventy young leaders, eager to tackle real-world challenges and develop their skills in diplomacy and policy-making.

The day began with an insightful panel discussion featuring Alison R. Williams (Founder of Wilco Consulting & Co-Founder of Tidal Partners) and Dasheika Ruffin, Esq. (Global Head of Community Engagement and DEI Strategy at Google). The panelists touched on key global issues, including:

The need for women’s rights reforms and breaking down workforce barriers, especially post-COVID.
The increasing influence of Gen Z on politics and activism through platforms like TikTok.
The impact of AI on political campaigns, public policy, and the need for smart regulation.

Panelists emphasized the importance of civil disobedience, highlighting that "People closest to the pain should be closest to the solution," and called for public policymakers to actively engage with those directly affected by the issues. The panel underscored how partnerships and alliances built on common goals can drive real societal change.

Following the panel, the diplomatic simulation began, with students taking on roles as international representatives from governments and organizations like the United States Department of State, UNHCR, and the Association for Refugees and Minorities (ARM). The scenario revolved around the fictional nation of Budan, where a persecuted minority group, the Rubits, fled to the neighboring country of Gilibia. The students worked through complex negotiations, balancing human rights, border security, and international diplomacy to find practical solutions.

Through this simulation, participants gained firsthand experience in problem-solving, compromise, and multilateral diplomacy.

Seminar on World Ozone Day 2024

The Dais SDG Lab, IQAC of Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Yamuna Nagar is celebrating the World Ozone Day 2024 through a seminar for the students. The seminar featuring Devesh Gupta and Daljit Kaur as speakers, will focus on the law, policies and science of preserving the Ozone layer.

International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer (informally and simply called Ozone Day) is celebrated on September 16, designated by the United Nations General Assembly. This designation had been made on December 19, 2000, in commemoration of the date, in 1987, on which nations signed the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer.

Youth Civic Engagement Program
Workshop on Introduction to Model UN and United Nations
20th August 2024

The first workshop of the Youth Civic Engagement Program, titled "Introduction to Model UN and United Nations," was held on August 20, 2024, at The American Center New Delhi, in collaboration with The Dais. Facilitated by Mr. Keshav Gupta, the session was attended by 75 young leaders from various schools, universities, and young professionals across Delhi. The event began with introductory remarks from Ms. Adelle Gillen, Public Diplomacy Officer at the American Embassy in New Delhi.

The session aimed to familiarize participants with Model United Nations (MUN) and the United Nations, emphasizing public speaking, diplomacy, and foundational knowledge about the UN. Through interactive exercises, the session helped participants build confidence in public speaking. Following this, participants were introduced to MUN, focusing on the roles of delegates, committee structures, and the importance of research and preparation. The session stressed the significance of understanding the agenda and country assignments for effective MUN participation.

A subsequent discussion provided insights into the United Nations, covering its history, structure, membership criteria, and the relevance of international law in global diplomacy. An engaging "Creative Country Activity" was conducted, where participants designed imaginary countries with unique names, histories, and political systems. Presentations of these countries, including the Republic of Gilvenia, Amoeba, and Pangea, showcased participants' creativity and critical thinking.

The workshop, supported by Ms. Chhaya Sharma, Director of the American Center New Delhi, along with Mr. Rajinder Chopra, Program Specialist, and representatives from The Dais—Devesh Gupta, Parth Aggarwal, and Simran Kumar—provided participants with essential skills and knowledge for future MUN conferences, fostering their development as young leaders.

The Dais SDG Lab, Entrepreneurship Development Cell and Incubation Centre Under the Aegis of IQAC of Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Yamunanagar is celebrating the World Entrepreneurship Day 2024 through a Workshop on the theme: Unleash Your Potential: The Power of Entrepreneurial Thinking on the 28th August 2024 from 11.00 AM IST onwards.
The workshop moderated by Keshav Gupta will feature Nikhil Mittal and Salil Bajaj as the speakers on the panel.

- Nikhil Mittal is an entrepreneur with a degree in economics from Delhi University and an MBA from IIM Kozhikode with a mission is to challenge and optimize the current ways of working in the pharmaceutical marketing and distribution business in India while building ethical and long-term relationships within the medical community.

- Salil has over three years of experience in the entrepreneurial world. He previously built a hiring company that achieved a revenue of approximately INR 2 crore within two years, securing deals with notable brands such as Swiggy, Jupiter, Lenskart, and Giant Eagle.

Delhi World Public School, Ajmer, and The Dais collaboratively launched and implemented a Public Speaking and Communication Program for over 300 young learners from April to August 2024. The program focused on building foundational skills and competencies with the students for effective Public Speaking. The program also aimed at engaging the students with Sustainable Development Goals with a focus on Climate Change, Gender Equality, Life Below Water, and Quality Education.
We are excited to culminate the program on the 17th August 2024 with all the students showcasing their skills through activities such as Exhibition of Ideas, Debate, and Just-a-minute themed on Sustainable Development Goals.
We thank the school leadership and all the teachers for their efforts towards the successful implementation of the Program.

The conference was the active participation of over 160 students from 10 schools across Delhi and discussed issues including Climate Risk Mitigation, Freedom of the Press, Russia - Ukraine Conflict. The opening ceremony saw the participation of Dr. Bharti Chhibber as the Chief Guest. She is an esteemed academic and environmentalist and has over 17 years of experience at the University of Delhi. American Center New Delhi & The Dais are organizing youth civic engagement activities through Model UN and Diplomacy Simulations. The program targets university students and young professionals, aiming to instill democratic values and a deep understanding of global affairs.

The Program was launched on 19th July 2024 at the American Center New Delhi through an event bringing together 50 young leaders along with representatives from the US Embassy, and United Nations Office. The launch aimed to introduce the program, its vision, benefits, and engagement opportunities for youth along with fostering a dialogue between youth and representatives from the UN, and US Embassy to provide insight as well as inspiration towards civic engagement.
The event commenced with an introduction and context setting led by Keshav Gupta, Founder of The Dais. He highlighted the Program as a platform to inspire and empower young people to contribute meaningfully to societal challenges through dialogue and action.
The program introduction was followed by a Panel Discussion constituted by Darryl Woolfolk, Public Diplomacy Officer, U.S. Embassy, New Delhi, Seep Agrawal, Lead for Civic Engagement Programs and Partnerships at YuWaah India at UNICEF India, and Sukhman Randhawa, Head for the Partnerships and Development Financing for the United Nations Resident Coordinator's Office in India, United Nations in India
The Panel remarks were followed by a Q & A Session & a Networking Session with the young leaders in the program.

Nurturing Leaders of Tomorrow!

The Centre for Public Policy and Good Governance, and UNDP, in collaboration with The Dais, organized a #PolicyMaking Bootcamp for Youth at Graphic Era University in Dehradun. The event saw the participation of 46 young change-makers from diverse disciplines, including Economics, Engineering, Literature, and Management, who actively engaged in discussions on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and policy-making exercises.
The session commenced with an inaugural address by Dr Manoj Pant, who emphasized on the importance of event and youth participation on #SDGs and #Policy Making.
Dr. Pant also proposed the establishment of an SDG Youth Engagement Centre at the University, supported by CPPGG and UNDP, which will facilitate year-long engagement with youth on pressing issues of the state. Dr. Narpinder Singh, Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era University, spoke the pressing challenge of Climate Change and welcomed the suggestion for the SDG YEC. Other university delegates included Dr. Rakesh Kumar Sharma, Pro Chancellor of GEU, and Dr. Preeti Krishna, Dean of Life Sciences.
Dr. Pradeep Mehta, PhD, State Head of UNDP in Uttarakhand, briefed the students on SDGs and presented career opportunities for youth in the development ecosystem, including the UN, bilateral agencies, and corporate social responsibility sectors.
The Policy Bootcamp aimed to build an understanding of the SDGs, highlight the role of young people in achieving them, provide foundational knowledge of policy formulation, and offer opportunities to propose solutions on issues of state concern.
The Bootcamp aimed to encourage and inspire young change makers to participate in policy discussions and SDGs for a better tomorrow. Similar bootcamps will be organized in other universities in the state in the coming time.

World Water Day 2024

World Water Day celebrates water and inspires action to tackle the global water crisis. A core focus of World Water Day is to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6: water and sanitation for all by 2030. World Water Day is an annual United Nations Observance – held on 22 March – focusing on the importance of freshwater, coordinated by UN-Water and led by one or more UN-Water Members and Partners with a related mandate.

Access to water is a human right. Yet, 2.2 billion live without safely managed drinking water services, with devastating impacts for their lives and wider society. A well managed water cycle underpins progress across the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, particularly in relation to hunger, gender equity, health, education, livelihoods, sustainability and ecosystems.
The theme of World Water Day 2024 is ‘Water for Peace’.

When we cooperate on water, we create a positive ripple effect – fostering harmony, generating prosperity and building resilience to shared challenges.
We must act upon the realization that water is not only a resource to be used and competed over – it is a human right, intrinsic to every aspect of life. This World Water Day, we all need to unite around water and use water for peace, laying the foundations of a more stable and prosperous tomorrow.

Ekta Prakash Sharma

Ekta Prakash Sharma, an innovative professional with 12+ years of experience, is the Director/CEO of Humanising Lives. Known for creative problem-solving, she focuses on emotional and mental health challenges exacerbated by the pandemic. Advocating health as a human right, Ekta addresses inequalities and promotes equal health opportunities. Her unique approach intertwines mental health with social justice, offering trauma support to Afghan women, addressing prisoners' mental health in Punjab, and creating safe spaces for the Queer community. During the pandemic, Ekta contributed over 7000 hours of affordable therapy, collaborated with organizations like NCW and UNODC, and assisted celebrities in philanthropy, leaving a lasting impact on mental health, social justice, and philanthropy.

Poojita Goswami

Poojita Goswami is a Peace and Conflict Studies gold medalist from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences. She is currently with GPF India as the Program Coordinator and Lead Trainer. With a keen focus on cultural dynamics, education, interfaith leadership, and empowerment of women and youth, Poojita strategically employs these avenues to foster lasting peace. Instrumental in mobilizing one of India's largest networks of peacebuilders through the Youth Peace Club and Peacebuilding Trainings, Poojita has significantly contributed to character and leadership development among the country's youth. Her innovative concept, "Paint Peace," has gained recognition in various Indian communities. Poojita is now at the forefront of pioneering and leading the Transforming Education campaign in India with GPF International, advancing the seeds of positive development and peace.
